My mom shared so many stories of her years growing up in France. She lived down the street from a small store and in the mornings would see deliveries made to the store. The shop owner would take wood from other projects and make rustic crates. The wife of the shop owner would paint them and hand scroll the address and types of food to be placed in each crate. While rustic, my mom remembers them as beautiful pieces of art for an every day job. To this day she has a few in her home.
We made boxes based off the memories shared by my mom. French farmhouse boxes made from reclaimed wood. The wood with all its imperfections takes us back 70 years to the small French shop. The piece is painted from non-VOC paint in a rustic, antiqued finish (pale yellow) and finished with beeswax. Pads are placed on the bottom to protect your countertops.
The inside has been sanded and the piece is constructed durably for practical use. So put your napkins and silverware inside, add your vingars and oils, spices, guest or kitchen towels, or use as a gift box with a bow. The ideas for use are endless!
dimensions: 13.5” x 6” x 3”. Sizes may vary slightly based on the wood used.
